Life: The Adventure You Choose To Make It

Image
Decided to post a draft that I had typed from this summer. I didn’t feel like posting it the time… so enjoy it now🤷‍♀️ Somebody made the comment to me recently that my life seems so glamorous and full of adventure. *cue a very shocked expression on my face.* My life glamorous? Full of adventure? People, don’t think for a second that I find mountains of laundry, cleaning, and cooking very exciting.  Quality of life depends so very much on your attitude towards whatever comes your way. And I’ll be honest, sometimes my attitude towards everyday, mundane life just stinks. . . . But if you need an idea for an every day adventure…. 1) find at least 5 children under the age of 12 (the more the better😅) 2) a grandmother or another person dedicated solely to come along and photograph the adventure  3) locate a pick-your-own orchard 4) a ton of patience and laughter Let me warn you that you will have to inspect every single peach before it’s picked, (otherwise they will all be green o...

A Week In Pictures. . .

Image
When I started my blog in Jan. of 2019, I had big ideas about blogging once or twice a week. I've since realized this is not going to happen. But since its been awhile, here's a glimpse into my past week. Last Saturday was really busy in the shop. After supper and a short power nap, Brian and I decided to go shoot 3D.  Took an EMS call Sunday afternoon - a startling way to wake up for a nap! I played violin for awhile in the afternoon after we got back. Some of us went outside and shot bow in the evening.  Cut out a dress for Mom on Monday morning. Oh yeah, and I helped somebody with flashcards while I was cutting it out. No photos from Tuesday. 😄 On Wednesday we had our first quiz practice. Definitely feels strange to be acting as a coach instead of a quizzer. No photos from Thursday or Friday either:) 😉 Saturday wasn't quite as busy in the shop as I was expecting. Perhaps the holiday helped out with that. In the evening I took the younger ones outside so Mom could ge...

More National Holidays. . . .

Image
In my previous post (which you can read here ) I said I would post photos of the other "holidays" we observed. National Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day. I "appreciated" the fact that the holiday was observed outside of the house!  National Wear a Hat Day! One of my younger siblings decided to make a hat for me just before I left to ride-a-long at the station.  They were slightly disappointed that I didn't want to take it with me and wear it on the ambulance that day! Aren't you disappointed that you didn't observe all these holidays?!?!

Shopping with younger siblings

Image
We'll just say shopping with your younger siblings can be interesting. Really interesting, especially when they are still learning the skill of pushing shopping carts and it seems that every other aisle you see somebody you know(or somebody that knows you!). The energetic shoppers.  I can only imagine they are thinking, "how fast do you think she will let us go down this aisle?"      I think the next time I take them shopping I will wear a pair of boots, or else some type of ankle protection!

"The Doctor is In. . . . "

Image
Hello! I'm Dr. Weaver. Do you have any concerns that a hug can't fix? OK, now I'd like to listen to your heart. Gloves can go. They don't fit properly anyway and hinder my finger movement.  My patient is surprised to find out that my knowledge concerning the positioning of the heart is greater than his. (I, of course, don't care to enlighten him that I just learned how to properly auscultate a heart rhythm  this week. After all, I just graduated with my Toddler Doctorate degree!) Back in my office I find something more exciting: a pager! Maybe I don't want to be a doctor after all. Gloves on again. (Its more professional) Thanks for coming today! There is no fee because I obtained all of the medical instruments and training from a family member Note: Please don't ever take seriously the medical advice given by toddlers (or anyone else that doesn't really know what they are talking about!).

The Quest for the Mice

Image
I think a lot of folks can identify with having mice in outer-lying structures, such as our shed. I had been noticing when ever I went in and rocked the mower, or stepped on the scattered bale of hay that little, gray, 4-legged creatures would go scurrying off in the other direction.        We set a few traps, but to no avail. The mice continued to take up residence.        Things finally came to a head when [censored] caught a mouse and declared she was going to keep it for a pet. "How on earth did you manage to catch it," we asked. "Oh, I just got it from in the shed," she declared.        Well, that got mom moving. "If we have too many mice that you can just go and 'catch them', something needs to be done." The pet mouse, that is no longer living.        And so, they got to work cleaning out the shed. I was cleaning up...
