A Week in the Life of Asher
Hi! My name is Asher!
My mom enjoys journaling to help her process life events. She even used to share her big ideas on this page! Well, since she’s not using it at the moment, I’m going to take the opportunity to tell you a little bit about my life and all its grand adventures so far.
Mommy and Daddy say I was in a big hurry to meet them early that Sunday morning, but the real truth is that I had completed all the exploring there was to be had in my previous home. The world out there sounded pretty grand and I was excited to see what it was all about. I guess it wasn’t real nice to daddy because he had worked really hard during the day before I was born and was pretty exhausted. He doesn’t hold any hard feelings though.
Just a few hours after I was born, I got to meet my grandparents and a whole bunch of aunts and uncles. What a rambunctious crew! They commented on the length of my fingers, how much hair I have, and whether I look like Daddy or Mommy. I did find the comments on how red and puffy was face was to be rather insulting; I just got here after all! I mainly slept through it - the easiest way to tolerate being the newest attraction is to simply ignore everyone.
I found out that most people on the outside are a whole lot bigger than me. I spent most of my first week eating and sleeping to try and grow as fast as I can.
Let me tell you about some of the new things I learned to do this week!
Going for walks outside is a lot of fun. I like the fresh air and seeing new parts of my world, but those dogs my parents have are quite scary when they start barking.
I generally dislike having my pampers changed, but I found out that it really makes mommy squeal if I give her a shower in the middle of it. Such loud exclamations from that lady! My changing table (and sometimes the wall!) gets a thorough cleaning every time. It’s quite a lot of fun.
By stiffening my back and legs I am able to move quite efficiently from a semi-sitting position on the couch to being flat on my back! Mama was not proud of my achievement and a visitor this afternoon also scolded me for for my actions!
Both of my grandma's have been here to check in on us and its fun to hear them exclaim over me. Its almost like I'm a perfect little person or something:) Mama is always calling me her precious baby too.
Mama is great for things like food, diaper changes, and middle of the night cuddles, but let me tell you about my favorite parent - Daddy!!
He takes me on walks to meet the animals and compliments my burps. He said he’s gonna take me for tractor rides and even teach me to drive sometime! I have a feeling that development might cause some bogus protests from Mommy.
Today was Daddy’s first day back in the manure truck since I arrived. I really missed him and was quite grumpy till this afternoon. Mommy was trying to put me to sleep, and while she was doing a good job, it just wasn't what I wanted. As soon as daddy came in the door and picked me up, I immediately calmed down and went to sleep. Mommy doesn’t understand the special bond daddy and I have but she gets this big silly grin every time she sees Daddy holding me.

I was born exactly 1 week before Daddy's 24th birthday. Grandma says we act and look alike. This picture was taken at a campfire when I was 1 week old - I got to spend most of the evening outside!! |
Anyway, I’m getting a little sleepy so I’m gonna trick my parents into believing that I’m settled for the night. My plan is to eat every 30 min for the next hour and take short naps in between. Then I will generously sleep for several hours before needing fed again.
Maybe I'll tell you more about life another time!

We are so loving this little one and can't believe how much he's already changed our lives. |
