South Dakota Trip - Day 3

Image
Monday morning we were given a delicious breakfast before we hit the road. It wouldn't have been hard for us to stay longer but we had more destinations ahead. Traveling was going well. We made the necessary 200 mile stops for gas of course. Towards afternoon, many of the younger ones took naps and I found a small space on the back bed to read. Cruising along I-29, mile marker 94 our motorhome troubles started with a terrific bang! accompanied by scraping and flapping noises. At the first sound I looked out the back window to see a big piece of our left rear tire taking a much different route - towards the median. I shouted up the hallway to Dad, "Hey, stop! We popped a tire!" Dad was pulling to the shoulder, and several of us hopping out to assess the damage. The tire was completely useless, the outer rubber part shredded and lying several hundred feet behind us. There were some wires hanging down, and although I don't know much about motorhomes, I knew...

Girls Passion

Sorry for not posting this sooner! I've had it typed for several weeks and forgot to publish it. Enjoy! Passion Girls Camp was held the 3rd weekend in July. The trip down to Maryland went without anything super exciting happening (thankfully!), and we arrived around 4:15. The initiative was called "the floor is lava". We had to get our entire group across a bunch of bandanas without anybody touching the ground, or else you had to start over. Once you stepped off a bandana, it couldn't be used again.         It took us until 4:00 in the mo...

A FISHY Outing.

On Wednesday, we spent the afternoon on the Susquehanna River. For awhile, tubing and jumping off the rope swing where a big entertainment, but then the fishing started.          All together, we caught 13 catfish. Yes, we're pretty sure they were not the same ones. They were all measured, and several had distinct markings. "The net! The net! Now, quick!" "He's goin' under the boat!" "Keep the line away from the pontoon! If it touches, the line might snap!" And then again, "The net; hurry!" (Its not super easy to see, but 2 of the 3 rods have fish on in the picture) Happy with his catch! This was the first time I had ever caught a catfish. They are really fun to fight! How big is this one? Quote while fishing:          "Hey! I thought you didn't like fishing. There you sit on the boat with your line in the water instead...
