Girls Passion

Sorry for not posting this sooner! I've had it typed for several weeks and forgot to publish it. Enjoy!

Passion Girls Camp was held the 3rd weekend in July. The trip down to Maryland went without anything super exciting happening (thankfully!), and we arrived around 4:15. After unloading our earthly belongings and parking our vehicles, we all checked in, turned over our keys and any time-telling devices, and stowed our luggage in the proper tents. Then it was time for supper, and our first session. There was 3 different speakers for the weekend.

As soon as the session was over, we headed out to start our first initiative. The initiative was called "the floor is lava". We had to get our entire group across a bunch of bandanas without anybody touching the ground, or else you had to start over. Once you stepped off a bandana, it couldn't be used again.

It took us until 4:00 in the morning to get this done. The picture makes it look as though it was still daylight, but we did this initiative was done by the light of flashlights.

The next morning we eat breakfast, had a session and then did another initiative.

Each staff member had a lie and something to illustrate it, and when each camper came with a paper with the matching lie, they had you rip it up, and gave you a Bible verses in its place.

The next initiative was a scavenger hunt with your group tied together, some of us blindfolded, others that couldn't say anything, and a few that were only allowed to say "yes" or "no".

Our next initiative involved another rope, only this time all of us were blindfolded. We had to find the rope our group leader put in the grass, untangle it and then make it into a square.

I figured out how to make it into a square, and as I explained it to some of the others, the group leader said that now I could no longer talk! Try explaining something to someone without them being able to see you, and you are unable to talk. You get get the idea that it was rather hard, but we did eventually get it done.

We had supper and then another session, before we had our campfire, and then retired for the night. I was ready to go to bed, as we only got about 3hrs of sleep the night before.

Friday morning we were awakened before daylight to do a human spider web that we worked at until breakfast, but were unable to complete the activity. After the session, they took a group photo and then after lunch we had solo time. For 3 hrs you were to speak to nobody other than staff. I slept for about an hour. It was kinda nice not to have anyone talk to you for such an extended time.

After solo time was up, the bathhouses filled with folks getting ready for the banquet that night.

This was our initiative group. . . .

. . . .and then my campfire group.

Saturday morning was cleanup. My group got to clean the bathhouses. Once the cleanup was completed, there was another bit of solo time, and then we were given a survey, our keys and electronic devices, and a packed lunch.

Anyone that is thinking about going to Passion should just go. I had heard all kinds of stories about "weird" or maybe "strange" activities that were done in previous years, and some of them almost deterred me from going. But now that I've been there, I would go again. It was a great experience.
