Wedding Things

Image
Well hello and welcome back to my little space of the internet! The short hiatus dragged out much longer than I anticipated:) Anyway..... Martina (who probably checks my blog for updates the most) says I should hop back on here and stay for awhile. So, I'm here. I don't know how long or consistantly I will visit, but. . . . She also said I should blog about our wedding. I like that idea:) *** Friday afternoon we set up the reception, held at Maranatha. We had lots of help from our families and it went quickly and efficently.  Janette did a really good job on my flowers! Time for rehersal! Early the next morning, Austin came to pick me up from my parents house for the last time before we were married. We had our first look in the back yard of my parents AirBnB. Of course we had to take a picture where it all started:) My Family Sisters!๐Ÿ˜Š Austin's Family Left to right: Austin's brother Anthony, Austin, Brian, and Michael Burkholder (Best Man)  Kayla (Maid of Honor; Aus...

Life Update. . .

Image
This morning I was scrolling back through my blog and reading old posts when I stumbled across a series I wrote last summer: The Dread and Denial of being asked "The Question" . I started laughing as I reread the thread.   Life certainly is interesting these days. Seeing your younger siblings graduate high school and start their full time jobs makes you feel a little strange. Supposedly we grew up enough to do such things now, but I don't know about that! It looked so much easier when I was 12... From my 7th grade perspective, those graduates were so mature and had their lives together!   Yeah, or not!  But they sure made it look so easy.   . . . Maybe I should post a life update. . . and perhaps a brief introduction?   His name is Austin.  I like him a lot:)  He makes me very happy! The picture explains the rest.      The End

Laundry Adventures and the Laundromat

Image
Its estimated that nearly 65% of the American population have made plans during the weekend. Some choose a relaxing weekend at home with friends, while others go on short getaways. but they usually return for the work week starting Monday morning. At least, they normally return. But I’ve never heard of a washer taking a weekend break and not coming back. But it was decided to. It’s giving us problems over the last couple weeks, but this week it down right refused to do laundry. And with 11 people living in our house, that became a problem very quickly. So today we Commenced on a Trip to the Laundromat. First came about the gathering of the clothes, followed by hauling baskets of said laundry out to the van and loading it up. How many quarters will it take to do 14 loads? And then we hauled all our now sopping wet laundry home to dry it in the well functioning dryer. It must’ve been the day for laundry calamities, because later when I came upstairs, the dress rack with man...

2020 - The Year that was Different Part #3

Image
1 God of our strength, enthroned above, the source of life, the fount of love, O let devotion’s sacred flame our souls awake to praise thy name. Refrain: God of our strength, we wait on thee, our sure defense forever be. 2 To thee we lift our joyful eyes, to thee on wings of faith we rise. Come thou, and let thy courts on earth ring out thy praise in days of mirth. [Refrain] 3 God of our strength, from day to day direct our thoughts and guide our way. Oh, may our hearts united be in sweet communion, God, with thee. [Refrain] 4 God of our strength, on thee we call. God of our hope, our light, our all, thy name we praise, thy love adore, our rock, our shield, forevermore. [Refrain]  It was the opening song on Sunday; very fitting I thought, considering all that the last year had held. 2020 was not the best year of national events. My last post touched on a few of the main ones, if you took the time to read it. (and if you didn't, I'm in no way offended๐Ÿ˜!!)  Bu...

A Week In Pictures. . .

Image
When I started my blog in Jan. of 2019, I had big ideas about blogging once or twice a week. I've since realized this is not going to happen. But since its been awhile, here's a glimpse into my past week. Last Saturday was really busy in the shop. After supper and a short power nap, Brian and I decided to go shoot 3D.  Took an EMS call Sunday afternoon - a startling way to wake up for a nap! I played violin for awhile in the afternoon after we got back. Some of us went outside and shot bow in the evening.  Cut out a dress for Mom on Monday morning. Oh yeah, and I helped somebody with flashcards while I was cutting it out. No photos from Tuesday. ๐Ÿ˜„ On Wednesday we had our first quiz practice. Definitely feels strange to be acting as a coach instead of a quizzer. No photos from Thursday or Friday either:) ๐Ÿ˜‰ Saturday wasn't quite as busy in the shop as I was expecting. Perhaps the holiday helped out with that. In the evening I took the younger ones outside so Mom could ge...

Rambling Thoughts and Current Critter Count.

On Monday I cleaned up my desk and put away all my school books. All of the sudden, it hit me that I don't need this stash of favorite notebooks and mechanical pens - there is no "next year of school - I'll use it then". * * * * * * * * * * * * This spring, several of us have different projects. Most of the projects involve animals - ranging in side from tiny bunnies to full grown dogs. Dad has pigs - 3 of them. The idea is to raise and butcher them this fall, with possibly a greased pig contest before then.   They have been given the names of Pinky, Black Tail, and Spoty. **Please be informed that these pigs were named by the younger children** Mom decided she wants to plant beans. Dad made her the raised beds, relocated the tea beds, and several scoops of mushroom soil later, they are ready to be used. Brian and I have our puppies, which went to the vet on Wednesday. Trenton wants chickens, but we have yet to find laying hens. Martina's project is helping Mom wi...
