New England Primers, and other School Activities

Image
My Father's World Exploring Countries and Cultures has lots of crafts and activities, in addition to the bookwork. A few weeks ago we were to make New England Primers. They are glad that this is not their normal "reader". * * * * * * * * * Mom decided that we should observe different National Holidays. Green Juice and Peanut Butter Day! Sticker Day! I will try to post some more photos of us observing a few more holidays at a later date.

This post was written on Sunday, hence the thing about going to church in the morning. This evening I was trying to think of something to blog about.        Today? We went to church, came home, ate lunch, and played games most of the afternoon and evening. As I write this post, there is an energetic game of tag being played.        Nah, that's just a normal-day occurrence. So, I decided to ask google what I should blog about.  blogtyrant.com  gave lots of suggestions: Hobbies!  Favorite jokes. Persuasive posts about controversial subjects. Places I want to visit.  Where I want to be in life in 5 years. Favorite festival or holiday and why. The list had 87 ideas, I've attached the link above if you would like to read the rest for yourself. Near the bottom of the list, I found an idea that seemed a little bit interesting:  #4 Show what’s in your bag, your fridge, your wardrobe, or on your bookshelf.  So, my bookshelf. It was given as a birthday

In which we visit the Farm Show

We arrived around 12:30. The crew except for me, who was taking the picture:) Observing the goat competition. Those handlers had a lot of patience with their goats. I wish our dog would obey as well as the goats! Corncob darts. . . Checkout all those smiley veggies! "This cow gives water!!!!!" Suddenly we must have an inspection crew to see if he is correct. By 2:30, every thought it was time to tryout the fine food the Farm Show offers. The bins of corn provided quite a bit of entertainment Several people thought it was great to be able to have front row seating while the carriages went around. We arrived home about 8:30 with a vanload of sleepy folks. Several people, as my grandma said, "You smell like a cow!"

Guest Post By Mom

Well, being the oldest, Mom has a list of funny things I did or said as a young child. Tonight, she decided to take me up on my standing offer of being a guest blogger and sharing a few memories.       Enjoy her perspective! Since Kaylene’s last post was about Christmas, I thought I’d share a few stories from some Christmases when she was younger. Kaylene’s first Christmas was 4 days after she was born. Her Grandpa Allgyer decided to introduce her to candy so he offered her a peppermint patty. We all laughed when she started smacking her lips at the smell. Two years later, Kaylene was beginning to understand the Christmas story but with her own tweaks. In the weeks leading up to Christmas she played with a child’s nativity scene being sure to put baby “Jesusus nigh-nigh” and lay him face down in the manger. As she grew in her comprehension and application of the story of Jesus birthshe would arrange the nativity scene so that the shepherds, the wisemen and Joseph and

A late Christmas post

I know that Christmas was over a week ago, but they say that "late is better than never", right? The first 'Christmasy' photo I have is a promotional photo that I took for the shop. "Gift cards are great last minute gifts!" said the ad. Or something along those lines. * * * * * * * * * On to a few photos of our family Christmas. . . * * * * * * * * * O holy Child of Bethlehem Descend to us, we pray Cast out our sin and enter in Be born to us today We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell O come to us, abide with us Our Lord Emmanuel
